Vani recorded in Adi Granth has been instructed to sing according to different ragas. When speech is sung, even if the speech is not fully understood, then that kirtan brings peace to the mind and meditation goes to the God, in whose glory the kirtan is performed. The singing that we hear and remember the true love, and the yearning of his peace is born, that singing is blessed. But our true benevolent benefit can only be gained by turning our attention inwards and adding live in the name of the Lord.
Guru Amardas ji has warned on page 7 in the Adi Granth: Get rid of raga nad, Hari seviye ta dargah. Nanak Gurmukh Bram Bachariya has already expressed mind.
You do not condemn the sound of raga, you are narrating its limits. You are preaching that there should not be any misconception that our work will be completed only by singing or singing of speech. Kirtan of speech is the beginning, not the end. You preach “Hari Seva” and Gurmukh Bram Bachariya, that is, do not just stop till the raga nad, but according to the Gurmukh’s preaching, keep the mind in devotion to Hari so that you can overcome ego and reconcile to God. Guru Sahib warns that people are singing ragi from outside and people are listening, but the listener’s mind is somewhere else. This leads to loss rather than profit. In the same way that the farmer plows the bull to give water from the well to the fields, but they should graze his field.
Behind the eyes inside every living being, the sweet sounds of the soundless word are echoing. According to the method explained by the Satguru, if your attention is concentrated and fixed behind the eyes, those sounds start to be heard inside. The instruments outside are closed after getting time and those outside are also tired, but the ragas inside never stop.
The Yamadoots take the fruits of every other kind of robbery, but if the soul attaches to that serene kirtan for a moment, then the soul is liberated forever from the shackles of birth and death.
